Helen Galbraith, Director of Planning and Deputy Secretary (currently on maternity leave)

Helen Galbraith has been Director of the Planning Office since October 2006, and took on the additional responsibility of Deputy Secretary, with particular responsibility for Council, Court and committee matters, in May 2007. From November 2011, she is head of the Strategic Planning and Projects Division, which also incorporates the Strategic Projects Office. In addition to overall planning, budgetary and line management responsibilities, activities include supporting the implementation of the new University Vision & Strategy (replacing the University Plan), including associated business planning and performance review; management of the University’s subscriptions and sundry grants budgets; and management of the University's Support Process Review programme. Helen is on maternity leave until July 2013 and her post is covered by Rachel Hooper.

Rachel Hooper, Director of Planning and Deputy Secretary (maternity leave cover until June 2013)

Rachel Hooper joined the Planning Office in July 2012 to cover Helen Galbraith's maternity leave. She is responsible for the Strategic Planning and Projects Division as detailed above. Rachel is currently taking responsibility for the Incident and Crisis Management and for Business Continuity planning.

Rachel Acres, Senior Planning and Projects Officer (currently on maternity leave until September 2013)

Rachel joined the Planning Office in February 2007, and became a Senior Planning and Projects Officer in May 2008. She currently has responsibility for the annual planning process for Support Services, Annual Academic Reviews, the Internationalisation Working Group, the Teaching Spaces Group, responding to HEFCE consultations and external surveys, and Crisis Management and Business Continuity Planning. Rachel is secretary to the Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Group and should be the primary contact for agenda enquiries. She is also project coordinator for the Student Growth Project. Rachel is the Departmental Safety Advisor. Rachel is on maternity leave until September 2013 and her post is covered by Jenny Campion-Smith.

Jenny Campion-Smith, Senior Planning and Projects Officer (secondment)

Jenny has been in post as a Planning and Projects Officer since August 2007 and is currently on secondment as the Senior Planning Officer (covering Rachel Acres' maternity leave).  Jenny’s main responsibilities include supporting senior meetings (e.g. Student Growth Project Steering Group, Senior Team Away Days, Annual Academic Review meetings) and projects (e.g. Structure of the Academic Year, Internationalisation) and taking a coordination role for management information/ data analysis work in the Planning Office. (Please note, Sara Moore, in the Vice-Chancellor's Office is now the main contact for the the Vice-Chancellor’s Advisory Group agenda).

Vicky Macpherson, Planning, Projects and Information Officer

Vicky joined the Planning Office in September 2012. Her main areas of responsibility are around the areas of capital prioritisation, risk and management information. Vicky is one of the University's key contacts for the online heidi system which contains data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and other data about institutions throughout the UK. Vicky is secretary to the Capital Investment Programme Board (CIPB) and the Portfolio Executive.

Kelly Dudley, Head of Committee Secretariat (currently on maternity leave).

Kelly joined the Planning Office in August 2007, initially as the Clerk to Council and Court. She took on the role of Head of the new Committee Secretariat in August 2011, and is now responsible for the servicing of Council, Court, Senate and and a number of committees which report to them. Kelly is responsible for updating the University's governance instruments; the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations each year and for ensuring that changes are approved by the appropriate decision-making body. Kelly is also responsible for producing the purple "Guide to Council" each summer. Kelly is the first point of contact for any queries relating to University governance, including any Council, Senate or Court related matters. Kelly is currently on maternity leave and her role is being covered by Hugh Martin.

Hugh Martin, Head of Committee Secretariat (maternity leave cover until February 2014)

Hugh joined the Planning Office in September 2012 to cover Kelly Dudley's maternity leave. His responsibilities are for the Committee Secretariat as detailed above.

Lucy Barling, Planning and Committees Officer

Lucy joined the Planning Office as Planning and Committees Officer on 31 October 2011 and is responsible for supporting the Committee Secretariat, in particular with servicing meetings of the University Planning and Resources Committee (UPARC), the Audit Committee, the Nominations Committee of Court and the Military Education Committee.  Lucy has also managed a review and re-design of the University’s governance web pages.

Helen Cole, Senior Secretary

Helen joined the Planning Office in September 2007.  She is the Secretary to the Committee Secretariat and the wider Planning team and the main point of contact for the office. She helps with Council, Senate and Court and associated committees. Helen works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Denisa Mulcahy, Executive Assistant - Registrar's Private Office

Denisa is the Executive Assistant to the Registrar and Deputy Registrar. Denisa manages the Registrar's and Deputy Registrar's diaries and correspondence. She is responsible for maintaining the Registrar's Private Office and Support Services websites. She oversees administration of the Registrar's Private Office budget and provides ad-hoc secretarial support to the Planning Office.
