Research summary

I am interested in elucidating the function of small membrane proteins (ion channels and exchangers) responsible for generating electrical activity of cells in the heart. I have a long-standing interest is the basis of the activity of a key part of the heart's electrical conducting system called the atrioventricular (AV) node, which co-ordinates the normal sequence of beating of the heart's upper and lower chambers (the atria and ventricles). We study single AV node cells using electrophysiological and imaging techniques.
