SWAN for Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience

The Athena SWAN Charter recognises excellence in SET (science, engineering and technology) employment in higher education, with particular regard to gender equality. The School supports the SWAN Charter principles which contribute to a more positive working environment for all.

We carry out a number of activities to increase awareness of potential difficulties faced by women in science and by any staff with caring responsibilities. These activities include career development seminars, focus groups and the development of a maternity handbook.

Engaging with the SWAN charter is a positive experience encouraging an increased awareness of issues encountered by particular groups of staff and therefore improving the culture in the School.

Further information on how our school engages with the Charter can be found in Our SWAN initiatives. Find out how we are Going for gold in the STEM diversity competition.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group
