Postgraduate students

Our open days are primarily for undergraduates, though some visitors may be interested in further study at postgraduate level. University representatives will be on hand at the exhibition in the Wills Memorial Building to discuss postgraduate opportunities.

There is a postgraduate open day in November each year, for those specifically interested in postgraduate study: details can be found on our postgraduate visits and open days page.

We offer a range of postgraduate taught qualifications and research opportunities across our six faculties:

  • Arts
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Health Sciences
  • Science
  • Social Sciences and Law.

Most of these are master's degrees and PhDs, and many are offered on a part-time basis.

As part of the Russell Group, Bristol is proud to be one of the UK’s leading research universities with an established record of impacting on society at local, national and international levels.

We have an excellent international reputation in research and are a member of the Worldwide Universities Network, a grouping of 19 research-led institutions of international standing.

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) assesses the research quality of UK universities. In the last REF (held in 2014), Bristol was assessed as having 98% of its research at international standard.

The University of Bristol has a long history of academic excellence and a great location in a beautiful city. The programme is even better than I expected, and I have made so many friends across the world.
