Accelerating world-class natural science research

19 December 2013

Awards totalling £60,000 have been made in the Schools of Geographical and Earth Sciences to accelerate the impact of research. These grants were funded through the University’s NERC-funded Impact Acceleration Account (IAA).

The four awards, ranging from £9,000 to £19,000, will support diverse knowledge exchange and commercialisation activities over the next year.

This is the second phase of NERC’s pilot IAA. In phase one only business partners were eligible; in this second phase, public and charity sector partners were also eligible.  The primary objective is to strengthen interaction between NERC-funded science and the business, public and charity communities to advance the impact of NERC science.

The funds were distributed through an internal competition and panel review managed by the University’s Research and Enterprise Development Division (RED). A further round is expected in spring 2014. If you are a NERC-funded researcher at Bristol with an idea or project that would benefit from a collaboration, please visit our NERC IAA webpage or get in touch with Andrew Wray, Frances Frith or Lucy Stephens in RED's Alliance Development Group.

The full list of NERC IAA phase two awards are as follows:
