Many of the children, aged between five and 11, came from volunteering projects that UBU Volunteering helps throughout the year, including Jolidays, a project providing young carers with free one day activities and respite weekends; Full Circle, a St Pauls project which supports a diverse community to enhance life opportunities and to raise aspiration; and Humdard which gives opportunities to Asian families across the city of Bristol to improve their quality of life.

Georgina Cove, UBU Student Volunteering Coordinator, said: “Saturday’s party was a fantastic event with much festive fun had by all. It's great to see students putting on events for people in the local community, and the kids certainly loved it! 

“A huge thank you must go to all the students who gave up their time to fundraise for and run the party, as well as South Gloucestershire Bus and Coach Company, Churchill Hall and staff and students of the University for their generous donations.”

UBU Volunteering aims to get students involved with the wider Bristol community, building positive relationships, and meeting local volunteering requirements in a variety of areas, through both long-term projects and one-off events.

Plans for future events are already underway after Children in Need provided UBU Volunteering with a grant that will enable a variety of activities for disadvantaged children in Bristol to take place over the holidays and well into the New Year.
