Professor Paul A Grout, Professor of Political Economy in the School of Economics, Finance and Management, has become a Non-Executive Director of Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets).

Professor Paul A Grout, Professor of Political Economy in the School of Economics, Finance and Management, has become a Non-Executive Director of Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets).

Ofgem is the independent regulator responsible for regulation of the energy markets in England, Scotland and Wales. Among other priorities it promotes competition in energy markets, regulates the companies which run the gas and electricity networks, contributes to the drive to curb climate change by helping the gas and electricity industries to achieve environmental improvements, and advocates the needs of vulnerable customers.

Professor Grout has been appointed for an initial term of five years.
