During this time Molecular Plant Pathology has become one of the leading international journals in the field, well established as high quality, and yet with a strong reputation as a friendly and innovative journal.

Molecular Plant Pathology covers submissions from all areas of molecular plant pathology including research on diseases caused by fungi, oomycetes, viruses, nematodes, bacteria, insects, parasitic plants and other organisms. 

Following an open call for applications in 2011, BSPP and Wiley Blackwell were pleased to announce that Professor Marty Dickman of the Department of Plant Pathology & Microbiology, Texas A&M University, USA, will become the new Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Plant Pathology from January 2013.

On his appointment, Professor Dickman said: “I am grateful and excited to have the opportunity to serve as Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Plant Pathology.  MPP is clearly established as a leading voice for scientific research involving plant-microbe/pest interactions.  Under the excellent leadership and vision of Professor Gary Foster and his top-notch staff led by Diane Hird, the bar has been set high.  It is my hope and intent to continue this standard of excellence as we move forward.”

Professor James Brown President of BSPP commented: “Gary Foster has been outstanding as the founding editor of MPP, making it one of the leading journals in the field.  BSPP is delighted to welcome a scientist of Marty Dickman’s calibre and experience as the new Editor-in-Chief of MPP.
