The future's green

29 February 2012

Members of the Cabot Institute will represent the University of Bristol at Your Green Future, an event held at the University of the West of England on 13 and 14 March that aims to inspire young people to choose green careers.

Your Green Future (YGF) is a collaboration between the InterClimate Network and Global Dimension Trust that facilitates engagement between professionals and schools through interactive events to encourage young people to contribute to the green economy through their choice of career. In this way, it aims to help bridge the ‘green’ skills gap, address youth unemployment and ensure that the UK becomes a competitive and successful green economy.

Staff and students at the Cabot Institute stand in the exhibitor hall will be on hand talk to participants about making a ‘green career’ out of research into our changing environment.

Dr Aoife Grant from the School of Chemistry will be a plenary speaker, addressing more than 250 students on 13 March about her research into greenhouse gasses.

Philippa Bayley, Manager of the Cabot Institute, will be running a workshop where students will have the opportunity to design and pitch their ideas for green products to a panel of ‘green dragons.

Students from BUST, the Bristol University Sustainability Team, have helped to plan and deliver the event.
