Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Co-founders, Aardman Animations and Helen Fraser, former Managing Director of Penguin Books at today’s [14 July] degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building.

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Co-founders, Aardman Animations and Helen Fraser, former Managing Director of Penguin Books at today’s [14 July] degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building.

Mr Peter Lord, CBE, and Mr David Sproxton, CBE, Co-founders, Aardman Animations, will be honoured with the degrees of Doctor of Laws at the 11.15 am ceremony. The orator for the ceremony is Professor David Clarke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University.

Helen Fraser, CBE, publisher and former Managing Director of Penguin Books, Chief Executive, Girls’ Day School Trust, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Letters at the 2.30 pm ceremony. The orator for the ceremony is Cathryn Gallacher, Director of Library Services at the University.

An honorary degree is a major accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
