Bristol Half Marathon runners to benefit from free University expertise

Runners participating in the Bristol Half Marathon this Sunday [6 September] will be able to benefit from free injury assistance and advice by Bristol University sports medicine experts.

Runners participating in the Bristol Half Marathon this Sunday [6 September] will be able to benefit from free injury assistance and advice by Bristol University sports medicine experts.

Four physiotherapists and an osteopath from the University will be on hand before, during and after the race to attend to any sports injuries runners might sustain. The experts will be operating from a special injury tent in Millennium Square equipped with couches, medical supplies and ice.

Nina Leonfellner, Senior Sports Physiotherapist at the University, said: “We are delighted to support runners during this year’s Bristol Half Marathon. I would like to encourage anyone planning to run in the event to visit us in Millennium Square where we will be pleased to answer any questions they may have. Whether you are a beginner or an elite athlete, we can offer you the right advice, treatment and instruction depending on your needs.”

The University of Bristol's Sports Medicine Clinic has been an official race partner of the Bristol Half Marathon for the last six years. The clinic, which is open to the public, provides expert physiotherapy, osteopathy and sports massage treatment to active people of all ages and abilities. It is located at two sites in Bristol, Tyndall Avenue, Clifton, and Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, Coombe Dingle.
