PWE Day 2009

8 May 2009

PWE (Positive Working Environment) Day 2009 will take place on Monday 11 May.

Forty free events for staff will be packed into the day, ranging from yoga stretches for the office and Indian head massage taster sessions to a tour of the Dolberry Building and a talk on the birds at Langford. There are a few other events taking place throughout the week. Full details are available on the PWE website.

The keynote speaker will be Professor Dame Carol Black, who was commissioned in 2007 by the Secretaries of State for Health, Work and Pensions to undertake a review of the health of Britain’s working-age population. Her presentation, Working for a Healthier tomorrow, will focus on her review, the Government’s response and how investing in employees’ health and well-being helps reduce sickness absence and improves job retention and motivation at work.

Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Len Hall, said: ‘I hope staff will take advantage of the many opportunities presented. I thank all those colleagues who have given generously of their time and skills in planning and running these events. If you don’t get a chance to take part, why not take time to think about the important role you play in the success of your department and strategies you could adopt to improve you own well-being? We can all play a part in making further progress and in shaping the environment we want to see at Bristol.’
