Honorary degrees awarded [17 February]

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to civil and bridge engineer, Dr Peter Taylor and Bristol businessman, Mr Louis Sherwood, at today’s [17 February] degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building.

Bristol University is awarding honorary degrees to civil and bridge engineer, Dr Peter Taylor and Bristol businessman, Mr Louis Sherwood, at today’s [17 February] degree ceremonies in the Wills Memorial Building.

Dr Peter Taylor, Civil Engineer, bridge builder and partner, Buckland & Taylor Ltd, and a Bristol graduate, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Engineering at the 11.15 am ceremony.

Mr Louis Sherwood, former Chairman of Gateway Foodmarkets, HTV West and Clerical Medical Investment Group and sometime Master of the Society of Merchant Venturers, will be honoured with the degree of Doctor of Laws at the 2.30 pm ceremony.

An honorary degree is a major accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement and distinction in a field or activity consonant with the University’s mission.
