A new website for the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU), designed by the Internet Development Team in the University’s Institute for Learning and Research Technology, went live recently.

The ECU promotes promotes equality and diversity across the higher education sector in the UK. It was established in 2001 to promote equality for staff employed in the higher education sector and its role was expanded in 2006 to cover equality and diversity issues for all students.

The project involved extensive user consultation to arrive at a clear and usable end product. Sarah Agarwal, the Project Manager, commented that this easy-to-use, highly dynamic site appears deceptively straightforward but required a number of complicated technical developments to achieve this result.
