Students from Bristol University are staging a ‘birds of prey’ themed fashion show this week, [Friday, February 23] in aid of the Bristol-Byeyale Action Project (B-BAP), a humanitarian project promoting the welfare of vulnerable women and children in Uganda’s Masindi district.

The event will display a colourful catwalk of models and acts featuring a ‘birds of prey’ inspired theme for the styling of the show. There will be entertainment from DJ Sumi and a range of different dance acts, including traditional South East Asian, African fusion, Latin American and hip-hop Bollywood fusion.

Fashion-lovers will have the opportunity to see the latest collections from designers and high street stores such as KJ Collection jewellery, La Boutique, Motel, Rhoda Rocks and many more.

Deloitte, M.A.C Cosmetics, Shark Energy Drink, Cohesion Hair and Beauty, Tony and Guy hairdressers together with make-up artists from The London College of Fashion and Makeup are all contributing to the event. The show will run over two days, one in Bristol and one in London.

The Bristol Fashion Show is in aid of B-BAP and to help support its plans for a team of student volunteers to travel from Bristol to Uganda working alongside the local community to run HIV, AIDS and Malaria awareness programmes. The volunteers will also be organising a fun summer school in Bweyale for war-traumatised children.

The show will take place in the Thistle Hotel, Broad Street, Bristol on Friday, 23 February. There will also be a second show on Saturday, 24 February at the Holiday Inn, Kensington Forum, London.

Entry begins at 7 pm with the show beginning at 8 pm. Tickets are £10 and are available from the Bristol University Students’ Union shop or the Holiday Inn, Kensington Forum, London.
