University of Bristol students are hosting an action-packed fun day this Sunday [23 April] for around 80 local underprivileged children aged from four to 19 years of age. The event is being held at the University’s Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, Stoke Bishop, Bristol, from 1 to 5 pm.

Organised by the University’s Students’ Union, the day hopes to provide the children with an opportunity to have fun and try a number of games and activities that they may not previously have tried before, including a mini sports day, treasure hunt and bouncy castle, followed by a tea party lunch.

The children, many of whom are disabled or have special needs, will all be able to take part in the day’s activities with the help of over 40 student volunteers, who have all generously donated their time to come along and assist with the event.

The event, kindly supported by HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for Europe) and coordinated by the University’s Athletic Union, RAG (Raise and Give) and SCA (Student Community Action).

Huda Gamil, RAG Chair said: “It amazes me just how committed these student volunteers are to helping the local Bristol community and giving so many children a special day out.”
