Up to 120 local children will be given a Christmas treat this week, thanks to Bristol University’s Student Community Action (SCA) which is holding a special party to help them celebrate the festive season. The party takes place on Saturday, 2 December.

The event is the 12th SCA annual kids’ celebration, aimed at four- to 14-year-olds from the Bristol area including Hartcliffe, Knowle, Southmead, Avonmouth and St Paul’s. The party will take place at Churchill Hall, Stoke Bishop, from 2 to 5 pm.

Entertainment will be in abundance, with party games, bouncy castle, karaoke, fire engine, police car and, of course, Father Christmas in his grotto giving out presents.  The children will also have the opportunity to see a traditional Punch and Judy show.

A tea party will round off the afternoon and each child will receive a goodie bag.  All of the children and the 100 volunteer helpers will be wearing a special T-shirt, designed by one of the children attending the party.  The event is sponsored by the Co-operative Membership.

David Speirs, SCA Co-ordinator, said: “The SCA Kids Christmas Party is a magical event for both the children who attend and the volunteers who help. There are so many children throughout Bristol that we cannot reach through our regular projects and this is our way to make their Christmas very special.”
