Bristol University Hot Air Ballooning Society held its 20th Anniversary ‘Reunion’ Balloon Meeting in July.

BUHABS, flying its new University of Bristol balloon, was joined by balloons flown by former BUHABS pilots and by the balloon clubs at Edinburgh and Southampton Universities. BUHABS ‘alumni’ from all over the UK travelled to Bristol to join in the event. Flights took place on Saturday and Sunday mornings from Coombe Dingle Sports Centre and on Saturday evening from a farm near Wickwar in South Gloucestershire.

While the weather was not always ideal, enjoyable flights were made and passengers were introduced to ballooning for the first time. Social events included a picnic and balloon tether at Blaise Castle (with BUHABS’ second balloon, ‘Uvistat’, flown between 1989 and 1992) and a prize-giving lunch at Littleton-on-Severn.
