A week of whizz-bang!

Fifty students from schools all over the UK have been selected to participate in a residential Chemistry Camp for 15-year olds at Bristol University's School of Chemistry.

Fifty students from schools all over the UK have been selected to participate in a residential Chemistry Camp for 15-year olds at Bristol University's School of Chemistry [June 29 to July 2].

The Salters' Chemistry Camp will enable the students to participate in the fun of chemistry and motivate them to develop both awareness of and a long-term interest in the subject through an action-packed week's programme.

Each student will be given an opportunity to tackle a variety of new activities.  They will use their skills to investigate the chemical properties of chocolate and produce pure banana oil without using bananas!  They will investigate chemiluminescence or “Cold Light” and find out what makes fireflies glow. 

They will be exploring the mysterious world of bubbles and anti-bubbles, and have fun with dyes and dyeing.

In addition students will visit the @Bristol Science Museum.  But it’s not all chemistry, there is a varied social programme for the Campers including ten-pin bowling and rock climbing.
