Power of place: people and possibilities

The Chairman of English Heritage and holder of Bristol University's Collier Chair in the Public Understanding of Science and Technology will be at Bristol University tonight [Monday, November 19] as part of the University's Celebration 2001.

The public lecture, entitled 'Power of place: people and possibilities', by Sir Neil Cossons OBE, takes place at 6 pm in the Wills Memorial Building, Queen's Road.

Sir Neil will speak about how people value the places in which they live and view the future and how the desire to reconcile the voices of the past with the needs of tomorrow is militated against by the planning process.

Full details of the public events in Celebration 2001 - most of which are free - are available from the website at or by telephoning Bristol (0117) 928 8086.
