Postgraduate research: PhDs

Embarking on a PhD means undertaking a 3- or 4-year research project, guided by one or more PhD Supervisors.  You need to have an undergraduate degree to do a PhD. Some students have also completed a Masters course (either MSc or MRes).  See applying for a PhD for more information.

Doctoral Training Programs such as our 4-year PhD in Neural Dynamics offer PhD studentships in a particular area of neuroscience.

An alternative way to undertake your own postgrad research is to do a Master in Research (MRes).  This is just a one year project.  At BN we run one MRes course - the Master of Research (MRes) in Systems Neuroscience.
