The Iberian peninsula had its own independent chant tradition until the late-11th century, nowadays known as Old Hispanic chant. In this workshop we will explore some of the few Old Hispanic chants that have survived with transcribable melodies. We will also sing some of the chants – Gregorian and Hispanic – sung in Spain after the late-11th century, when the Old Hispanic rite was largely abandoned.
