Elektrostatic Concert

"A New Orchestral Nexus": Elektrostatic 3, at the Colston Hall

At the core of "A New Orchestral Nexus" is a series of concert performances in collaboration with Bristol Ensemble (formerly known as Emerald Ensemble) and Colston Hall. This Wednesday's concert centres on John Adams' mesmeric string septet Shaker Loops, and features two works by doctoral students in the Department of Music, Dave Greenhorne and Matthias Strassmüller.

  • David Greenhorne: Shakti (string septet, first performance)
  • Phillip Glass: String Quartet No.1 "Company"
  • Matthias Strassmüller: La Kara Ma (tape)
  • Liz Purnell / Andy Keep: new work for dulcimer, strings, live electronics and video
  • Richard Barnard: new work for solo violin
  • John Adams: Shaker Loops
