As part of its centenary celebration, the University of Bristol commissioned a new work for string quartet from its distinguished Emeritus Professor of Composition, Geoff Poole, inspired by the Wills Memorial Building’s imposing bell, Great George. The piece was performed privately at a centenary banquet in May, but now, it receives its first public performance, again given by the recently founded Brodowski Quartet, first prize winners of the 2008 Royal League Competition and the recipients of the Richard Carne Junior Fellowships for chamber music performance at the Trinity College of Music. Recent quartets by Simon Holt and Erwin Schulhoff complete this tantalising programme.

Not to be missed!
