The Nazi regime carried out vigorous campaign to suppress 'Entartete Musik' (Degenerate Music) which meant death for some composers. Others propsered (for a while) under the regime, some became 'internal exiles' or part of an artistic resistance, however many significant figures fled to other countries. This series traces these developments by looking at such representative figures as Schoenberg, Hindemith, Weill, Korngold, Eisler, Ullmann, Carl Orff and Boris Blacher.

Dates for this course are: Thursdays 2:30-4:00pm Oct 11, 18, 25, Nov 1, 15, 22, 29, Dec 6, 13
