Submission guidelines

Please note the following points which apply to submissions of all kinds:

  • all assessed work (e.g. coursework essays, projects and portfolios) must be submitted to the Music Office by the deadline prescribed and with a 'Cover Sheet' attached. You will find the cover sheet relating to your unit on the unit site on Blackboard. This must be filled in correctly and attached to your work on each occasion in order for your submission to be deemed complete.
  • you must pay for all photocopying done in the SARC at the time of copying; you are advised not to leave your photocopying to the last minute.
  • all second and third year work that is handed in with cover sheet to the office is marked anonymously. You must therefore make sure that your name does not appear anywhere on your work.
  • all essays, projects and dissertations should be word processed: double-spaced on A4 paper and in a font size of 12pt; adequate margins should be left for the marker to be able to write comments on the work.
  • third year dissertations and projects should be carefully presented, e.g. in a ring binder or bound on a plastic comb ring (available in the SARC).
  • essays, however, should NOT be inserted in any kind of folder or plastic wallet. The sheets (with the cover sheet on top) must be stapled together securely in the top left hand corner. Separate sheets or sheets loosely held together by a paper clip will not be accepted.
  • for third year dissertations and projects, the title-page should include the following: 'Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of B.A. with Honours in Music (or Joint Honours in Music and a Modern Language, as appropriate) in the University of Bristol' along with the relevant unit code and title and the date
  • submissions that do not conform to these requirements will not be accepted or marked
  • you are strongly advised to make back-up copies of any work (e.g. projects/essays; compositions; studio projects) that you prepare on a computer. Disk failure or other computer/printer problems will not be counted as valid reasons for late submission.
