Entry Criteria
- All applications will be considered on an equal basis looking at a range of academic and non-academic criteria.
- We do not require applicants applying to our medical programmes in the 2011/12 cycle to take any additional admissions test (eg UKCAT, BMAT, GAMSAT). Any change in this policy will only apply to applications for future years of entry and will be well publicised in advance.
- Candidates are not discriminated against on grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, religion, disability (other than the nationally-set requirements of "fitness to practise”) or age (although it is unlikely that applicants who will be under 17 on entry would be able to demonstrate sufficient life experience to fulfil the non-academic selection criteria).
- The majority of applicants fulfil or exceed our academic requirements in addition to demonstrating the basic qualities required in our personal statement selection criteria. Very fine distinctions have to be made of the evidence provided. As part of the selection process the Medical Admissions Committee seeks to ensure diversity in the students selected.
