My research interests are in physical activity patterns and sedentaryism in older adults (over 70 years) and objective measurement of physical activity. Recent research includes work on Project OPAL (Older People and Active Living) an investigation of the physical activity patterns and their determinants in people aged 70, and over, living in urban settings.
Other research includes Better Ageing where I was involved in the investigation physical activity patterns in European older adults and evaluation of Bristol’s Walking the Way to Health programme.
I have been a member of the Department of Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences since 1996. I have worked with accelerometers and particularly with Actigraph data collection and analysis since 1998, working on projects such as the St Ivel Childrens Physical Activity Survey and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. I hold an MSc in Exercise & Health Sciences and an MPhil.
