28 June 2018
The School of Mathematics would like to congratulate Professor Francesco Mezzadri who has been awarded a prestigious Fröhlich Prize by the London Mathematical Society (LMS) for his profound and wide-ranging contributions to random matrix theory and its applications.
The LMS is the major British learned society for mathematics. The Fröhlich Prize is awarded biennially, in memory of Professor Albrecht Fröhlich (De Morgan Medallist 1992), for original and extremely innovative work in any area of mathematics.
On receiving his award, Professor Mezzadri, said: "It is a great honour to be awarded the LMS Fröhlich prize for 2018. It was also very much welcome and unexpected news. When I looked up the previous recipients, I was astonished at being placed among mathematicians of such standing."
