Leadership Attributes at the University of Bristol
Taking into account the organisational vision and goals, a set of Leadership Attributes, specific to the University of Bristol, have been developed by many staff to help make explicit the behaviours expected at this institution. These Attributes will be used to inform the performance and development activities of all leaders and managers throughout the organisation.
The benefit of using Leadership Attributes is that they can relate to future potential as well as past and current performance. Whether leaders are reflecting on their own performance or in conversation with other staff e.g. at SR&D, these Attributes can be used to help form a benchmark for behaviour.
The role of the Head of Department is outlined in these two important documents:
University Ordinance 10 (page 78)
Head of Department job description
