Vacation loans and reading

In the Queen's Building Library vacation loans to undergraduates begin on the last but one Thursday of term:

  • any book borrowed by an undergraduate on or after that day is loaned for the whole vacation, instead of the normal 'standard loan' period
  • you may use the Library Catalogue if a book you want is on loan
  • vacation loans are due back on the first Wednesday of the next term (the date is stamped in the book)

Books in the Short Loan Collection may not be borrowed for the vacation, though they can be borrowed overnight as in term-time or for the period that the library is closed for Christmas and Easter holidays.

Three day loan books may not be borrowed for the vacation, though they may be borrowed for 3 days as in term- time or for the period that the library is closed for Christmas and Easter Holidays.

Undergraduates may not borrow the following types of material over the Summer vacation:

  • journals
  • reports
  • British standards
