Vacation loans and reading

In the Medical Library vacation loans begin on the last but one Thursday of term:

  • any long loan book borrowed on or after that day is loaned for the whole vacation, instead of the normal 1 week loan
  • you may use the Library Catalogue if a book you want is on loan - though you need to do this at the right time to maximise the chances that you may be able to pick it up
  • vacation loans are normally due back on the first Wednesday of teaching the next term (the date is stamped in the book)
  • journals are not available for vacation loan but may be borrowed for their normal loan period

Short Loan Collection (SLC)

Duplicate copies of the SLC texts can also be borrowed for the vacation:

  • on the last Wednesday of term at Christmas, Easter and in the Summer
  • there are no reservations for these copies and they are loaned on a first come first served basis: you may wish to queue up for when we open on the relevant day

One copy of each Short Loan Collection (SLC) text is kept as a short loan copy in the Library: this can be borrowed in the normal way during the vacation and can be borrowed 'overnight' for the period that the Library is closed for Christmas and Easter.
