Counselling collections

Most counselling resources will be found in the Education Library.

However additional resources can also be found in the Arts and Social Sciences Library:

  • Some counselling materials
  • Psychology, including the Clinical Psychology collection
  • Mental Health

If you need an item which is not available anywhere in the library system here in print or online, you can use the Inter-library loans service to obtain it from another library. There is a charge for this service, although you may be able to obtain an inter-library loan voucher to pay for this. See the information for postgraduates or information for academics page for details of how to obtain these vouchers. Access to other university libraries and the British Library may be a useful alternative.

New books

  • New books and reports are displayed on the New Book Display in the Education Library for one week, during which time they may be reserved at the Library Issue Desk but not borrowed.
  • See the information for postgraduates or academic staff for details of how to recommend the purchase of new books, or other materials.

Course based materials

Materials to support Counselling courses are available in the Education Library:

  • Duplicate copies of some recommended textbooks (for example, books in high demand for essays and
assignments) are kept in the Short Loan Collection (SLC)
  • Tutors may also make materials for study available on Blackboard.

Thesis collection

The collection of Masters and Diploma theses for Counselling are kept by the Department (not the Library) in 8 -10 Berkeley Square. Please ask in the Counselling Programmes Office for further information.
