Reaxys, the replacement for CrossFire

Reaxys replaced CrossFire here in 2010. Reaxys includes Beilstein and Gmelin, which were on CrossFire, and the Patents Chemistry Database.

Reaxys can be accessed at http://www.reaxys.com/
Access to Reaxys is controlled by IP address, so on-campus you can use Reaxys without logging in.  Off-campus you can use the Student Remote Desktop/Staff Desktop, Off-site proxy or VPN to access Reaxys, electronic journals, etc.  Java version 1.5 or higher has to be present on the PC/Mac you are using for various functions of Reaxys to work (structure editor, etc).  The default structure editor in Reaxys is ChemAxon's Marvin Sketch.  Other structure editors can be used, but must be downloaded and installed as plugins from the Reaxys support download page.

It is possible to register your details on Reaxys so that you can login and customise the interface, create Alerts for useful searches, etc.  This will also give you a longer timeout (6 hours compared to 30 mins).

Please contact the Subject Librarian for Chemistry, Julian Hill if you have any problems with using Reaxys.
