Information for academics

This page focuses on subject information specific to academic staff, but also points to other useful pages.

Contacts and liaison

  • For subject enquiries contact the Medical Subject Librarians. The contacts page of the Library website details other contacts and enquiry points.
  • The Library Representative for Anatomy is Dr Glenn Wakley.
  • New academic staff are welcome to contact the Medical Subject Librarians to arrange a session on how the Library can help you with your teaching and research.

Subject resources

Recommendations for new books, journals or database subscriptions can be made to either the Medical Subject Librarians or Glenn Wakley (Library Representative for Anatomy). We also welcome requests for trial access to new and novel resources.

New books

  • New books are displayed on the New Book Display in the Medical Library for two weeks, during which time they may be reserved using the Library Catalogue but not borrowed. See the new books (UOB access only) list.

Thesis collection

PhD, MD, MSc, ChM and DSc theses of staff and students of the Anatomy Department, from 1910 to date, are available in the thesis collection in the Medical Library.

Inter-library loan vouchers

If you need an item which is not available anywhere in the library system here in print or online, you can use the Inter-Library Loans service to obtain it from another library. There is a charge for this service, though you can obtain an Inter-library loan voucher to pay for this. Please contact Anthea Moody in the Faculty Office. Access to other university libraries and the British Library may be a useful alternative.
