LL.B Law with Study in Continental Europe (UCAS Code M100)

The LL.B Law with Study in Continental Europe degree is a four year single honours degree in law, with the third year spent studying law in one of our partner universities in Europe. The programme is largely the same as the standard LLB programme, but students spend their third year abroad at one of a range of selected European Universities. In preparation for the year abroad, students take a Comparative Law unit in year two. The Law School currently has links with Universities in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and  Spain. Tuition during the year abroad is conducted either in English or in the host language, depending on the University attended.

The Law School continually reviews its curricula. There are currently no planned changes, but any future changes will be published here in due course.

Transferring to the LL.B Law with Study in Continental Europe degree

Students admitted to study LLB may apply to transfer to this degree at the end of their first year of study. Places are awarded on merit, on the basis of performance in first year examinations. In our partner universities in Belgium, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands, teaching is in English. Where teaching is in a foreign language, we expect students to have the language skills necessary to study effectively. If students demonstrate that they have the necessary linguistic ability, the lack of a formal qualification will not be decisive; however, we tend to look for A levels (or their equivalents). Please note that it is possible for students to develop their language skills while at the University of Bristol, via the School of Modern Languages.
