The Centre for IT and Law is involved in a wide range of professional activities outside the University, which both draw upon and help to support its research and teaching objectives.  The work it has carried out in the area of legal issues affecting the use of Information Communication technologies (ICTs) in Further and Higher Education has both attracted international attention, and been influential in policy development across the UK sector.  In particular, the CITL has worked closely with the Joint Information Systems Committee of the Higher Education Funding Council; participating in a number of working parties on topics such as copyright, fair dealing,  licensing, data protection and freedom of information; and providing advice and consultancy to its associated Services, such as JISC Legal, OSS Watch and the Digital Curation Centre.  The CITL has produced a number of briefing documents for JISC Legal.  The most recent include:
