LLM in Maritime Law

The LLM in Maritime Law programme offers a range of units for those wishing to specialise in shipping and related matters. It provides an opportunity to study comprehensively both the private and public law aspects of international maritime law, in particular in a commercial and international trade law setting.


Requirements for the LLM in Maritime Law

To obtain an LLM by Advanced Study in Maritime Law, students must both:

  1. submit a 12,000 word dissertation in the field of Maritime Law, and
  2. either take four Maritime Law core units or take three Maritime Law core units plus one other LLM unit.

Note that students without an English law degree who are taking the LLM in Maritime Law are strongly advised to select one of the following from the list of Foundational Law units: Law of Contract, Law of Tort, or Law of Personal Property and Trusts.
