Student Support

Lecturers and tutors who teach on any given unit are available to assist students experiencing difficulties. Students will also be assigned a personal tutor who will provide them with more general advice and assistance. Students can request additional meetings with subject tutors or personal tutors, either by contacting them during their scheduled ‘office hours’ or making an appointment to see them at some other time. Should a personal tutor be unavailable temporarily when a student needs to discuss a personal problem related to their studies, there is a Student Support Manager, who is available to assist students on a confidential basis.

Students should always let us know if they find personal or health problems interfere with their ability to study, so that we are able to assist them. We are also aware that our students often care for children, siblings or older relatives, while trying to find time to study. If you are in this position, do let us know as soon as possible, so that we can try to accommodate your needs in the timetable and, if necessary, in other ways.
