Following their exams, students from the University of Bristol Law Clinic gathered for the annual awards night last week on 10 June, celebrating the successes of the past year with Law Clinic members, staff and representatives from its sponsoring firm, Osborne Clarke. Student Outreach Manager Susannah Burley writes about the event.

By Susie Burley, Law Clinic Outreach Manager

This year we were able to celebrate some of the fantastic achievements of the Law Clinic. Our outgoing student director, Saffron Lim, gave a short speech which detailed some of her proudest moments of this year which included being nominated under the ‘Best Contribution by a Pro Bono Clinic’ category at the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards.

Moreover, we were able to share some of our successes in re-establishing connections with outreach projects including Bristol Drugs Project and Bristol Mind, as well as developing our strong connection with CLIC Sargent.

Students were given encouraging speeches by our Director John Peake and Head of the Law School Ken Oliphant, who both extended their gratitude for the support of Osborne Clarke over the years. We were also fortunate enough to be joined by Osborne Clarke’s Employment Partner Julian Hemming, along with Corporate Partner Sarah Knight and many of their trainee solicitors and graduate recruitment team.

Following the prize giving, students had the fantastic opportunity of networking with the Osborne Clarke team and talking more about the successes of the Clinic as well as what the future may hold for some of our talented members.

The student committee would like to congratulate all of our incredibly deserving prize winners this year.
