Dave Cowan publishes Shared Ownership - Crisis Moments

2 July 2015

Dave Cowan's policy report is timely because the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has promised that it will undertake a review of shared ownership. Some weaknesses of shared ownership that require reform have been identified both by us and the key stakeholders.

Dave Cowan (Bristol), Alison Wallace (York) and Helen Carr (Kent) have published the report ‘Shared Ownership: Crisis Moments’, a Leverhulme Trust funded research project.

There are many calls for shared ownership housing to be built at greater scale so that it can make a more significant contribution to tackling the housing crisis. But, a number of constraints are evident in this model of renting and owning, and there are concerns that satisfaction in the sector is lower than for other tenures.
