Social networking seems a harmless way to communicate with friends and family online, but it could expose your personal information to employers and others beyond your control. A free talk by Andrew Charlesworth, Director of the Centre for IT & Law in the University of Bristol's School of Law and Dept. of Computer Science, will explore the darker side of social networking, from 6 pm to 7.30 pm on Wednesday 28 October at The Folk House, 40a Park Street.

Law and the Engaged University: Teaching Law to Teenagers

The Meriton Law Enrichment Project is being featured as a case study of public engagement work undertaken within the University. The Project, which has been running for six years, involves working with the local pupil referral unit for teenage parents - providing teaching sessions and support.

Innocence Project: Criminal Cases Review Commission Referral

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) announced yesterday that it has referred the case of Simon Hall to the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) who was convicted of the murder of 79 year old Joan Albert in February 2003. Simon's case has been investigated by the University of Bristol Innocence Project (UoBIP) and five students from the UoBIP investigating Simon's case were the subject of the last BBC Rough Justice documentary in April 2007.
