The Law Clinic is pleased to now be able to support and provide assistance to bereaved families before, and during the inquest process. We have set up a dedicated team of students who will specialize in supporting and representing families at inquests, supervised by a solicitor with practice experience of Coronial law and process.

Recent cuts to public funding have led to many families unable to access legal advice prior to an inquest, and having to represent themselves in the Coroner’s court. The process itself can be overwhelming and confusing, with complex legal terminology and lack of clarity regarding procedure providing an additional burden to grieving families.

In court, families often find themselves pitted against solicitors and barristers, without any means of obtaining legal support themselves. Our inquest team hopes to plug this gap, and ensure that families are in a strong, informed position at the inquest hearing.

We are able to provide advice on the purpose of an inquest and the inquest process, review evidence, help you draft your own statements, and even advocate on your behalf in court.

Please do get in touch via the enquiry form if you would like to obtain our support.
