Global Health with Justice: a Symposium with Professor Lawrence Gostin
Professor Lawrence O. Gostin
Lady Hale Moot Court, 8-10 Berkeley Square, Bristol, BS8 1HH
The Centre for Health, Law, and Society, University of Bristol School of Law, is honoured to be hosting Professor Lawrence O. Gostin, Founding Linda D. & Timothy J. O’Neill Professor of Global Health Law, and Director, O’Neill Institute for National & Global Health Law, Georgetown University, as an Institute for Advanced Studies Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor in April 2018.
Professor Gostin is the world’s leading scholar of the emerging field of Global Health Law, explored most comprehensively in his ground-breaking book of the same name, published by Harvard University Press in 2014. He has also undertaken numerous high-level roles in global health, including the Director-General's Advisory Committee on Reforming the World Health Organization, the WHO International Health Regulations Roster of Experts and the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Mental Health.
To mark the occasion, the Centre is organising a half-day cross-disciplinary symposium at the University of Bristol, centred around Professor Gostin’s vision of ‘global health with justice’.
We would like to invite those researching on any issues connected with global health and justice (including PhD students) to attend and/or to present papers. Please send expressions of interest in attendance, or presentation, to email@example.com by Friday 30 March. If you wish to present a paper, please include a title and brief abstract. It is hoped that papers presented at the symposium will form the subject of a journal special edition.
