Ruth Glynn studied Italian at the National University of Ireland, Galway (BA 1992), University College Dublin (MA 1994), and the University of Birmingham (PhD 1999). She lectured at the University of Leeds (1999-2000) before being appointed to the Italian Department in Bristol in 2000.

Research Interests

Her research interests lie in late twentieth-century Italian culture and include representations of the anni di piombo; postmodernism; the historical novel and philosophy of history. Her current research project examines how Italy's experience of political violence and terrorism in the anni di piombo is articulated as trauma in memoir, fiction and film.
