D.E.Duncan@bristol.ac.uk Research interestsDerek Duncan has published extensively on gender and sexuality in Italian literature and film. His book on male homosexuality and its intersections with race and national identity led to the development of an interest in Italian colonial culture. He is currently working on a monograph on postcolonial Italy that explores a wide range of cultural forms including feature and documentary film, journalism, novels, and postcolonial stardom. He is also involved in a number of collaborative projects with colleagues in the UK, USA, and Italy and is Senior Editor of the Cultural Studies issue of the long-established journal Italian Studies. With Professor Sarah Street, he is leader of Screen@Bristol, a University research theme that promotes work on all forms of screen media across the institution. In 2011 he will give talks at the Universities of Leeds and St Andrews. He will deliver a plenary paper at an international conference, Pasolini’s Body, at the Center of Visual and Performance Studies at UC Santa Cruz in April and will also lecture on Pasolini at UC Long Beach. He has been invited to Monash University in Melbourne as Visiting Professor in the summer of 2011.
