High student satisfaction with IT services!

[12 August 2016]

92% of final-year undergraduates are happy with access to IT services and facilities at Bristol according to the 2016 National Student Survey (NSS) results.

This is up 2% on last year's response and demonstrates a growing satisfaction with IT over the history of the survey. It also places the University of Bristol firmly in the top half of Russell Group universities for satisfaction with IT.

Highlights include a 5% increase in satisfaction from Arts Faculty courses, with all six faculties having courses reporting 95% or higher satisfaction with IT and several scoring 100%!

These scores reflect the ongoing developments which IT Services have been making to services and facilities for students, which include:

  • New computer facilities in Beacon House and the Grace Reeves Study Centre.
  • More open access computers in Senate House Study Centre and we will be installing more computers in the Arts and Social Sciences Library and the Richmond Building.
  • Find a Computer - which shows live availability of computers in libraries and study centres.
  • Print Release printer/copier/scanners in halls of residence, so students can print from their own devices in their rooms.
  • New Print Release devices in Engineering and Humanities, so that students can print from personal devices or open access computers.
  • More WiFi access points, including at the Stoke Bishop and Hawthorns bus stops.
  • More free software for home use, including Office365 and Matlab.
  • Unlimited cloud file storage with Microsoft OneDrive.
  • 24 hour phone support via the IT Service Desk.
  • 1,840 problems resolved at the Student Laptop and Mobile Clinic.

IT Services is committed to provide an excellent experience for students at the University of Bristol and we will be working hard to continue the growing trend of satisfied students.
