Update 15:00, 15 January: The problem has been identified and fixed. IT Services apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Since 11:50am today University managed Windows PCs have been failing to authenticate to the Bristol-ManagedPCs wireless network.

We are investigating this issue but have not been able to resolve the problem at this time.

There is a workaround for managed laptops as they should already be configured to allow connection to eduroam.

  1. Disconnect from Bristol-ManagedPCs - go into the wireless menu in the system tray, select "disconnect" - wait 5 minutes.
  2. Connect to the eduroam network - go into the wireless menu in the system tray, click on "eduroam" in the list and select "connect". When prompted for "additional information" enter your UoB username followed by '@bristol.ac.uk' - eg ab12345@bristol.ac.uk and use your standard UoB password.

The laptop should connect to eduroam and provide network access. Some mapped drives and printers may not be available from eduroam, but this should restore internet access. To access mapped drives and printers you can use the staff remote desktop.
