Essential maintenance to VoIP phone service on 27th June

[12 June 2015]

We have two periods of maintenance work planned for the VoIP phone service in June.

Postponed - Thursday 18 June 5.00pm-7.00pm

As part of improving the resilience of the service, work will take place during 5-7pm on 18th June. There is a slight risk that calls will be disconnected during the work or there may be no dial tone if  trying to make a call. Potential disruption will last for approximately one minute per extension whilst the work takes place.

Saturday 27th June

An upgrade to the OpenScape service is planned for Saturday 27th June.

It is not anticipated that there will be any break to calls to and from standard VoIP phones during the upgrade to the OpenScape service with the exception of a 10 second period whilst the old software version is switched to new software.

However, during the 27th June, between 8.00am-6.00pm, there will be a break to the OpenScape service for 5 hours. During that time:

  • Staff that are using the 'One Number' service via a web client will not be able to use redirects or call forwarding features. Any active settings will not work and the person calling will receive a 'not in service' tone.

If you have a significant business need to have your calls redirected to another phone on Saturday 27th, this can be arranged by contacting the IT Service Desk.

  • Phones in the lifts at Hiatt Baker Hall's J,K,L,M,N and Life Sciences Building will see a 45 minute outage at some point during the day.

We will be working with Health and Safety on actions to mitigate this issue.

Telephone Services apologise for the inconvenience this work may cause.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding the above work please contact the IT Service Desk
