Network maintenance affecting Senate House, Friday 5th June to Sunday 7th June

Maintenance badge

[22 May 2015]

Essential network maintenance is needed to replace the old and now end-of-life network switches that provide University and Internet network connectivity to computers on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of Senate House.

Due to the scale of the work an extended outage to network access will be required in the areas mentioned above. To minimise any disruption the work is scheduled to begin at 6.00pm on Friday 5th June and finish Sunday evening, 7th June. During this time network access to and from 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of Senate House will be unavailable.

In addition to the work above, the opportunity will be taken to upgrade the old main network router that feeds the whole of the Senate House network. This will be done between 8.00am-9.00am on Saturday 6th June. During that hour the whole of the Senate House network will be unavailable.

Once the work is complete we anticipate much increased network speed, reliability, and improved features and monitoring will be available.
